An dieser Bahngesellschaft, deren Strecke an ihrer Pulvermühle vorbeiführte, war auch die Chemie- und Pulverfabrikantenfamilie duPont maßgeblich beteiligt. Bei der Reorganisation 1876 als „Wilmington & Northern RR“ übernahmen die duPont‘s schließlich die Aktienmehrheit. Als W.&N.RR. existierte die Ges. dann ein ganzes Jahrhundert lang (später mit der Reading Co. als Großaktionär), ehe sie 1976 in der ConRail aufging.
