Sie wurde später Teil der Strecke New Albany - Michigan City (östlich von Chicago am Südufer des Lake Michigan) der Louisville, New Albany & Chicago Ry, die 1859 als RR gegründet und 1873 als Ry reorganisiert wurde. 1897 erneut reorganisiert als Chicago, Indianapolis & Louisville Ry. (die allgemein nur Monon Rail genannt wurde, nach der Stadt Monon, Indiana, wo alle ihre Hauptstrecken zusammenliefen). 1957 wurde der umgangssprachliche Name Monon Rail dann auch offiziell als Firmenname angenommen. 1971 verschmolzen mit der Louisville & Nashville RR.
