place: | Hamburg | | Picture: |  | | Info: | Gründung 1899 als Deutsche Tiefbohr-AG zur Aufsuchung und Gewinnung von Kalisalzen und Steinkohle. 1911 Umfirmierung, nachdem die DEA inzwischen über 90 % der deutschen Erdölförderung kontrollierte. Mit der Standard Oil lieferte sich die DEA deswegen einen über 10 Jahre währenden erbitterten Preiskrieg im Kampf um die Vorherrschaft im deutschen Petroleum-Geschäft. Nach einem Intermezzo als Deutsche Texaco AG gehörte die DEA zuletzt zum RWE-Konzern. Das Downstream-Geschäft (Raffinerien, Logistik, Tankstellen) wurde zum 1. Juli 2002 komplett durch Shell übernommen. Die DEA-Tankstellen wurden ab 2004 in Shell umgeflaggt bzw. veräußert.
