place: | Philadelphia, Pa. | | Picture: |  | | Number: | 210 | | Info: | Das 1838 konzessionierte Bergbauunternehmen besaß mit 1.400 acres Konzessionsfläche zwischen Wilkes-Barre und Reading in Staat Pennsylvania 3/4 der Ausdehnung des Hazle Creek Kohlenfeldes, angrenzend an die Bergwerke der Hazleton und der Laurel Hill Co‘s. Das im Tiefbau erschlossene Kohlenflöz war 22 Fuß mächtig. Über eine etwa 1 km lange Anschlußbahn erreichte die Kohle die Hazleton Railroad, die sie zum Lehigh Canal beförderte. Auf der bergwerkseigenen Anschlußbahn war eine „geared engine“ eingesetzt. Im Gegensatz zu den „Grashoppers“ und den „Crabs“ blieb diese von den Baldwin Locomotive Works angefertigte und 1840 patentierte Weiterentwicklung des 2‘A-Typs Zeit ihres Lebens ein Einzelstück.
