Ca. 20 Meilen (32 km) Gleise waren 1854 gelegt. Der Gesellschaft gehörten 500.000 acres in den Central Adirondacks. Die Bahn war unvollendet. Sie wurde reorganisiert als Lake Ontario & Hudson River RR. Die 1843 gegründete Gesellschaft ging in der 1839 gegründeten Adirondack Railroad auf, die von Dr. Thomas Clark Durant, dem Vize-Präsidenten der Union Pacific RR gebaut wurde. Vervollständigt war sie dann 1871. Nach Durant's Tod verkaufte sein Sohn 1889 die Bahn an die Delaware and Hudson Canal Co. Eine Postkutschenlinie wurde errichtet um Passagiere die 28 Meilen (45 km) zu Durants Besitzungen am Blue Mountain Lake zu bringen.
