Eine Gruppe von Pilgrims und Puritaner zog 1628 und 1629 in die Neue Welt und gründeten Salem. Die “Great Migration” begann 1630. Boston wurde 1632 Hauptstadt der bis 1691 streng theokratisch regierten Massachusetts Bay Colony. Im 18.
