Dort hatte man 3.000 acres Land erworben und plante den Bau eines großen Urlaubs-Resorts für die Ober- und Mittelklasse der US-Hauptstadt. 1894 erhielt die Eisenbahngesellschaft die Genehmigung zur Gründung der Stadt Chesapeake Beach. Profitabel wurde die Bahn nie: Weder zahlte Sie je eine Dividende noch jemals auch nur einen cent Anleihezinsen.
