Die bedeutende Bahn, im Volksmund “Katy” genannt, geriet 1880 unter die Kontrolle des berüchtigten Jay Gould und wurde von ihm bis 1888 finanziell bis zum Bankrott ausgeplündert. 1891 übernahm eine Gruppe unter der Leitung von John D. Rockefeller die „Katy“ und baute sie innerhalb kurzer Zeit zu einer der führenden Eisenbahngesellschaften im Süden der USA aus. Das fast 2.200 Meilen lange System erstreckte sich von St. Louis und Kansas City im Norden bis nach Houston und Galveston im Süden. | | Specials: | Ausgestellt auf und rückseitig original signiert von George D.
