Die Hühnerfarmen explodierten, die Bevölkerung von San Francisco benötigte viele Nahrungsmittel, so auch Eier. 1875 wurde ein Dutzend Petaluna-Eier für 1 $ verkauft. Sebastopol ist bekannt als "Apple Town". 1880 wurde durch die Russen von Fort Ross der Gravenstein-Apfel in Sonoma County eingeführt. Es wurde Saft, Cider, getrocknete Äpfel, die Applesauce hergestellt. Führende Bürger der Städte beschlossen: Eine Eisenbahn für den Transport der Güter, für die weitere Entwicklung der Geflügel- und Frucht-Industrie musste her. 1889 wurde die Petaluma and Sebastopol RR incorporated. 1903 wurde dann die elektrische Bahn von Petaluma über Sebastopol, Foretsville nach Santa Rosa, die Petaluma and Santa Rosa Electric Ry, incorporated.
