place: | Indiana | | Picture: |  | | Number: | 2 | | Info: | Ursprung der Strecke ist der von einer Aktiengesellschaft betriebene und 1839-46 eröffnete Whitewater Valley Canal von Brookville über Lawrenceburg und Connersville nach Cambridge City, der an den Cincinnati & Whitewater Kanal anschloß. Der Kanal kam aus den wirtschaftlichen Schwierigkeiten nie heraus und wurde 1863 an die Indianapolis & Cincinnati RR verkauft, die den Treidelpfad für ihre Eisenbahnstrecke Lawrenceburg-Cincinnati nutzte. Die White Water Valley RR wurde von der I.&C.R.R. 1865 gegründet, um von der Valley Junction in Ohio (18 Meilen westlich von Cincinnati) dem Whitewater Valley 65 Meilen bis Cambridge City, Ind. zu folgen. 1878 unter gleichem Namen reorganisiert. 1890 von der Cleveland, Cincinnati, Chicago & St. Louis RR geschluckt worden, die als „Big Four“ bekannt war und zum Vanderbilt-Imperium der New York Central gehörte, in die sie 1930 ganz hineinfusioniert wurde. | | Specials: | Zur Investition von Lokomotiven, Waggons und Ausrüstung. | | Availability: | Einrisse in den Knickfalten. | | Condition: | VF-. | | Sold: | 140,00 EUR |
