Als die Strecke 1885 fertiggestellt war, verlief sie von der Center Street in Meriden, Conn. zu einem Punkt in Cromwell, Conn. am Connecticut River. Bald wurde beschlossen, die Linie nach Waterbury, Conn. zu verlängern. 1887 mit Hilfe einer Anleihe der Bevölkerung von Waterbury wurde die Strecke gebaut. Fertig war sie im Juli 1888 und der Name der Bahn würde geändert in Meriden, Waterbury & Connecticut River RR. 1889 besaß die Bahn 5 Lokomotiven, 7 Passagierwagen und 154 Güterwagen. Im Okt. 1892 wurde die Bahn Teil der New York & New England RR and 1895 des New England RR-Systems. Die Bahn wurde übernommen von der New York, New Haven & Hartford RR.
