place: | Pennsylvania | | Picture: |  | | Number: | 20 | | Info: | Die Gesellschaft wurde gegründet 1831 als Swatara & Good Spring Rail Road Co. um die Anthrazitbergwerke von Pennsylvania an das Eisenbahnnetz Richtung Ostküste anzuschließen. 1840 wurde die Bahn von William Donaldson übernommen und zu Swatara Railroad umbenannt. Bis 1848 wurde die Bahn als reine Pferdebahn betrieben, danach schrittweise auf Dampfbetrieb umgestellt. 1863 verkaufte Donaldson seine Anteile an der Bahn an die Philadelphia & Reading Railroad Co., die sie als Good Spring Railroad weiter betrieben hatte. Die Bahnlinie führte von Lorberry Junction über Tremont nach Donaldson, einer kleinen Ortschaft in Schuylkill County, Pennsylvania und fungierte nun als Anschlußbahn der Union Canal RR und der Lorberry Creek RR. | | Specials: | Ein herausragend illustriertes Papier mit mehreren Kupferstich-Vignetten, mittig Darstellung einer Uralt-Eisenbahn.
