Jahre alten Vorkommen der Gegend sind im eigentlichen Sinne kein Marmor, sondern schleifbarer Kalk. Sie bestechen durch ungewöhnliche Farbvarianten, weshalb die zahlreichen Flaserkalk-Vorkommen im Frankenwald schon seit dem 18. und 19. Jh. ausgebeutet wurden.
