DuPONT (1838-1926), er trat 1875 nach einer großen Militär-Karriere in die Firma seines Vaters ein. 1879 wurde er zum Präsidenten der Eisenbahngesellschaft ernannt. Dieses Amt behielt er bis 1902 und ging anschließend in die Politik. 1906-1917 Mitglied des Senats, zeitweise auch Vorsitzender des Militärausschusses. Er war ein Enkel des aus Frankreich stammenden E.I. DuPont de Nemours, dem Schießpulverfabrikanten und Begründer des heutigen Chemiegiganten.
