Die am 20.9.1850 vom Kongreß beschlossenen Landschenkungen in Alabama, Mississippi und Kentucky an die Mobile & Ohio waren die ersten auf dem amerikanischen Kontinent überhaupt! Eröffnet wurde die 472 Meilen lange Hauptstrecke Mobile, Ala. nach Columbus, Ky. 1861 (übrigens eine reine Güterbahn). Über 100 Lokomotiven und über 4.000 Waggons verkehrten hier um die Jahrhundertwende. Die Bahn ging in der mächtigen Southern Railway auf. Specials: Grün/schwarzer Stahlstich mit Eisenbahn-Vignette.
