Sie war eine Tochtergesellschaft der Richmond, Fredericksburg & Potomac RR, die 1834 gegründet wurde. 1836 war das erste Teilstück zwischen Richmond und Hazel Run eröffnet. Die Eisenbahn verband Richmond mit Washington D.C. An der Hauptstrecke lagen Alexandria, Quantico, Fredericksburg, Milford und Ashland. Heute gehören die Strecken der CSX Transportation (hatte 2008 ein Streckennetz von 43.055 km). Condition: EF.
