Der berühmte Architekt John Nash, Direktor der Kanalgesellschaft, war eng mit dem Prinzregenten befreundet, dem späteren König George IV. Ihm zu Ehren benannte er die Wasserstraße und die Gesellschaft “Regent’s Canal”. Die Gründung erfolgte 1812. Gebaut wurde bis 1820, obwohl Teilstrecken bereits 1816 dem Verkehr übergeben wurden. 1882 wurde die Gesellschaft reorganisiert und in “Regent’s Canal, City & Docks Railway Co.” umbenannt. 1900 Namensänderung zu “Regent’s Canal & Dock Co.”. 1948 wurde der Kanal verstaatlicht, unterstellt der British Transport Commission. 1956 wurde zum letzten Mal eine Barke von Pferden auf dem Kanal gezogen. | | Specials: | Druck auf Pergament, original signiert. | | Availability: | Rarität. | | Condition: | EF-VF. | | Sold: | unsold |
