Dort begannen sie als fahrendes Volk - von der Kiepe heraus - die Waren zu verkaufen, bevor sie 1899 zusammen mit den Peeks in Utrecht ein Bekleidungshaus gründeten. Vom Erfolg beflügelt, kam James Cloppenburg in das Deutsche Reich, wo er 1901 in Berlin das erste Bekleidungshaus eröffnete und dort - ein Novum - einheitliche Konfektionsgrössen einführte. Gleichzeitig wurde das Düsseldorfer Haus eröffnet. 1907 wurde ein Versandhandel gegründet, auf bebilderten Verkaufslisten basierend. | | Specials: | Original signiert von den Gründern Th. Peek und H.
