Info:Gegründet 1887 zum Bau einer 242 Meilen langen Bahn von der Staatsgrenze Texas nach Trinidad, Col., die bereits am 5.4.1888 eröffnet werden konnte. Das Geheimnis der Schnelligkeit: Auf fast der halben Streckenlänge zwischen Pueblo und Trinidad legte man entlang der schon bestehenden Schmalspurbahn der Denver & Rio Grande RR einfach nur ein drittes Gleis - fertig war die normalspurige Bahn. Unter Einschluß der von ihr kontrollierten Denver, Texas & Gulf und Fort Worth & Denver City RR’s (mit denen sie als “Texas Panhandle Route” operierte) besaß die Ges. damit eine durchgehende Verbindung von Denver, Col. nach Fort Worth, Tex. (803 Meilen). Bereits 1890 in der legendären Transkontinentalbahn UNION PACIFIC aufgegangen.
Specials:Original signiert von SIDNEY DILLON als Präsident. Der Eisenbahnpionier Sidney Dillon (1812-1892) baute mit dieser Bahn den späteren östlichen Teil der legendären Transkontinentalbahn der UNION PACIFIC. Die (offensichtlich bereits vorproduziert gewesene) OU von Dillon ist rot durchgestrichen und ergänzt durch eine weitere Originalunterschrift von Grenville M. Dodge (1831-1916) als President. Dodge war als Union Pacific-Chefkonstrukteur für den Bau des gesamten östlichen Teils der legendären Transkontinentalen Eisenbahn verantwortlich. Später engagierte er sich bei vielen anderen Eisenbahnlinien im Südwesten und Westen der USA und wurde anerkennend “ablest railroad lobbyist of his time“ genannt. Hochwertiger Stahlstich mit großer, besonders fein gestochener Dampflok-Vignette.
