Low als President (Low war ab 1892 Chefsyndikus der Chicago, Rock Island & Pacific und 1893-1900 außerdem President der Chicago, Rock Island & Texas, die die Rock-Island-Lines von Oklahoma nach Texas weiterführte). Die Chicago, Rock Island & Pacific bevorschusste diese Bahn mit 25 Mio. $ und sicherte sich damit im Gegenzug nahezu alle Aktien. Der Bahnbau begann 1886 mit den beiden Strecken Elwood-Horton, Ks. und Beatrice-Fairbury, Neb. Bis 1890 war in Kansas, Nebraska, Colorado und im Indian Territoty ein imposantes 1.388 Meilen umfassendes Streckennetz gebaut. Das Mutter-Tochter-Verhältnis war aber nicht sehr herzlich: Als diese Bahn 1889 der Rock Island ein paar Zinsen schuldig blieb, ließ die Mutter die Tochter kurzerhand zwangsversteigern und verleibte sie sich Mitte 1891 vollständig ein. Daß der Bahn-President Low wenige Monate später Chefsyndikus der Rock Island wurde, lässt annehmen, daß alles ein abgekartetes Spiel zu Lasten anderer Stakeholder war. | | Specials: | Als President original unterschrieben von MARCUS A.
