place: | Missouri | | Picture: |  | | Number: | 70 | | Info: | Diese 1900 auf Initiative einiger Burlington-Manager gegründete Bahn zweigte beim heutigen Centerville, Ia. nach Süden in den Staat Missouri ab, in Richtung der reichen Kohlebergwerke um Connelsville und Novinger. In Novinger geriet man in Konflikt mit der in Ost-West-Richtung verlaufenden Omaha, Kansas City & Eastern Ry. Deren Haupteigner begannen die Iowa & St. Louis aufzukaufen und erlangten 1901 die Aktienmehrheit. 1903 landete die Bahn im Burlington System. Der Bahnbau wurde weiter Richtung Süden vorangetrieben, wo im Adair County noch mehr Kohlebergwerke auf Anschluß warteten. Er endete schließlich in Mercyville, Mo., wenige hundert Meter bevor man auf die Santa-Fe-Hauptstrecke durch das nördliche Missouri gestoßen wäre. 1936/1947 schrittweise stillgelegt. | | Specials: | Schwarz/goldener Druck, Vignette mit aus Tunnel ausfahrendem Zug. | | Availability: | Unentwertet.
