Durch seine attraktive Lage, fernab von Hektik und Verkehr, ist Braunwald ein beliebtes Ferien- und Ausflugsziel. Seit bald 100 Jahren pendelt die Standseilbahn als einzige Verbindung zwischen Braunwald und Linthal. 1997 wurde die Standseilbahn durch die damalige Besitzerin, die Holdinggesellschaft Braunwaldbahn AG, mit finanzieller Unterstützung von Bund und Kanton vollkommen erneuert.
