Das Unternehmen wurde hauptsächlich durch seinen Sohn, Adriano Olivetti weiter entwickelt und 1932 in eine AG überführt. Der erste in Italien produzierte Computer wurde 1959 von Olivetti unter der Bezeichnung Elea 9003 vorgestellt. Im gleichen Jahr übernahm Olivetti den US-amerikanischen Schreibmaschinenhersteller Underwood.
