Das sogleich vorläufig mit einem Kapital von 2 Mill. Mark, das bis 15 Mill. erhöht werden konnte, gebildete Konsortium, die “Eisenbahn-Gesellschaft für Deutsch-Ostafrika (Usamabara-Linie)" baute zunächst eine Eisenbahn von Tanga nach Korogwe am Pangani (90 km), sie sollte bis zum Viktoria-See gehen. Aufgrund von Unterkapitalisierung wurde die Gesellschaft 1899 vom Staat übernommen. Betrieben wurde die Strecke danach von der Ostafrikanischen Eisenbahngesellschaft. | | Availability: | Mit kpl.
