Bei der Umwandlung in eine Aktiengesellschaft und Einführung an der Börse Breslau übernahm 1904 der Schlesische Bankverein die Aktienmehrheit, ab 1916 kontrollierte er den Kattowitzer Bankverein völlig. Seinerseits wurde der schon seit 1856 bestehende Schlesische Bankverein, der 1870 selbst zu den Mitgründern der Deutschen Bank gehört hatte, 1917 ebenso wie die Norddeutsche Creditanstalt im ostpreußischen Königsberg von der Deutschen Bank übernommen, die in Folge des Verlustes ihrer ausländischen Geschäfte mit Beginn des 1.
