place: | Montgomery, Ala. | | Picture: |  | | Number: | 6 | | Info: | Gründung 1832 als Montgomery Railroad für den Bau und Betrieb der Eisenbahnverbindung von Montgomery, Alabama bis zum Chattahoochee River in Columbus, Georgia. 1834 konzessioniert für die Erweiterung der Strecke bis nach West Point, Georgia. 1840 schaffte es die Ges. gerade mal 12 Meilen Geleise zu verlegen. 1842 zahlungsunfähig und als Montgomery & West Point Railroad reorganisiert. 1851 war die 88 Meilen lange Bahn sowie der 29 Meilen lange Abzweig von Opelika, Ala. nach Columbus, Ga. endlich fertig. 1870 Fusion mit der Western of Alabama RR zur „Western Railroad of Alabama“, wobei Charles T.
