Im Nov. 1861 erwarb Christian Kühn aus Schönenwerd einen Teil der Schöneck und ließ auf dem Grundstück ein Gasthaus erstellen. Bereits drei Jahre später taucht erstmals die Bezeichnung Kurort Schöneck auf.
