Die Gründung hatte sich verzögert, weil Friedrich der Große dem ostpreußischen Adel aus politischen Gründen keine Landschaft bewilligen wollte. Erst sein Nachfolger, Friedrich Wilhelm II., bestätigte 1788 das Statut der Ostpreußischen Landschaft. 1869 gliederte sich die Ostpreußische Landschaft als Tochterinstitut die Bank der Ostpreußischen Landschaft an, um den Landwirten über den Realkredit hinaus den notwendigen Personalkredit gewähren zu können. Die Bank hatte ferner die Aufgabe, den Vertrieb der landschaftlichen Pfandbriefe zu übernehmen und bis zum endgültigen Verkauf der Pfandbriefe den Hypothekarkreditnehmern Vorschüsse zu gewähren. | | Availability: | Mit Talon.
