Info:Gegen Zuwendung von 500 Mark an die als Genossenschaft organisierte Gewandhausconcert-Direction erhielt der Zeichner bis zur Eröffnung des Neuen Gewandhauses 4 % Verzinsung, danach für unbeschränkte Dauer das Anrecht auf das Abonnement eines Sperrsitzes. Der Anteil war frei übertragbar. Im alten Gewandhaus an der Universitätsstraße fanden die später berühmten Leipziger Gewandhauskonzerte schon seit 1781 im Winterhalbjahr jeden Donnerstag statt. Das Neue Gewandhaus wurde zwischen Beethoven- und Mozartstraße errichtet; es wurde im 2. Weltkrieg zerstört. Während die vorher durchaus in vielen Städten verbreitete Institution der wöchentlichen Konzerte allenthalben den napoleonischen Kriegen zum Opfer fiel, blieben die Leipziger Gewandhauskonzerte ununterbrochen bis heute das älteste und größte Konzertinstitut. Der schon vorher weltbekannte und dann während der Wende besonders hervorgetretene (jetzt in New York wirkende) Dirigent Kurt Masur steht in der Tradition so bekannter Leiter wie Hiller, Schicht, Mendelssohn und Reinecke.
