Im Herbst 1858 konnte das 81 Meilen lange Teilstück Salisbury-Morgantown eröffnet werden, einen Weiterbau verhinderte dann eine ganze Generation lang der Sezessionskrieg zwischen Nord- und Südstaaten. Erst im Herbst 1880 wurde die Bahn durchgehend bis Ashville fertig. Bereits im April 1882 ging die Verlängerung bis Paint Rock in Betrieb, 1890 hatte sich die Gesamtlänge dann auf 309 Meilen erweitert. 1892 eingegliedert in die Richmond & Danville RR, 1894 verschmolzen auf die mächtige Southern Railway. | | Specials: | Schöner braun/schwarzer Stahlstich, ungemein feine Hauptvignette mit Farmern, Kindern und Pferden, Nebenvignette mit Kuh unter einem Baum. | | Availability: | Unentwertet, mit kpl.
