Er war der erste Nationalpark der Welt. In der Mitte des aus vulkanischem Gestein (Rhyolith-Ergüsse) aufgebauten Beckens liegt der Yellowstone-See, Schauplatz zahlreicher Karl-May-Geschichten. Berühmt ist der Park durch seine Geysire, allen voran der auch auf der Aktie abgebildete “Old Faithful”, dessen heißes Wasser alle 65 Minuten 35-45 Meter hoch springt.
