place: | New Hampshire | | Picture: |  | | Number: | 479 | | Info: | Nachdem ein erster Versuch 1839 gescheitert war, gelang 1847 die Gründung der Cochecho RR zum Bau einer Eisenbahn von Dover bis zum Lake Winnipiseogee, wo die Bahn an die Hauptstrecke der Boston, Concord & Montreal RR anschließen sollte. Bis 1851 wurde das 45 km lange Teilstück bis Alton Bay fertig (zuende gebaut wurde die Strecke erst Jahrzente später durch die Lake Shore RR). Dann ging der Cochecho RR das Geld aus; auch die Ausgabe von Vorzugsaktien konnte 1851 das Ende nicht mehr verhindern: 1861 in Konkurs gegangen, 1862 als Dover & Winnipiseogee RR reorganisiert. Die Boston & Maine RR pachtete die Bahn 1863 und kaufte sie 1892 endgültig auf.
