So musste die B&M gezwungener Maßen Züge über die verhasste B&L-Strecke leiten, und die selbst schwer beschäftigte B&L ließ die Züge der Konkurrenz teilweise stundenlang warten. Doch das B&L-Monopol endete 1865, und 1873 organisierte die Boston & Maine die von ihrer Hauptstrecke an der Lowell Junc. in Andover abzweigende Lowell & Andover RR, die zur Boston & Lowell-RR-Strecke weitgehend parallel verlief und sie sogar einmal kreuzte. Die Strecke ist bis heute als wichtigste Güterzug-Strecke der Pan Am Railways im Staat Massachusetts in Betrieb. | | Specials: | Ausgestellt auf die Boston and Maine Railroad.
