Die Firma war auf die Verarbeitung von Flachs, Hanf, Sisal und Baumwolle spezialisiert mit Spinnerei und Zwirnerei. 1930 Übernahme der Duncan's Leinen-Industrie AG in Großschweidnitz, Sachsen. Zum Ende des II. WK lagen alle Gruschwitz-Werke im Einflußgebiet der Roten Armee und wurde als Sowjetische Aktiengesellschaft entschädigungslos enteignet. Mit Mithilfe einiger weniger alter Mitarbeiter eröffnete Alexander Doherr Gruschwitz im bayerischen Neu-Ulm eine kleine Zwirnproduktion. 2004 zog Gruschwitz von Neu-Ulm nach Leutkirch im Allgäu, nachdem das Unternehmen zuvor andere Textilfirmen übernommen hatte. Das als Gruschwitz-GmbH Tech-Twists firmierende Unternehmen stellt heute Nähgarne und technische Zwirne her. Das Unternehmen befindet sich heute zu 75 % im Besitz von Philipp Daniel Merckle, dem zweitältesten Sohn des Unternehmers Adolf Merckle und hat in Leutkirch ca. 155 Mitarbeiter. | | Availability: | Ungültig-perforiert.
