Die ersten kettengetriebenen Wagen hatten Zwei-, Vier- oder Sechszylindermotoren. 1907 wurde der Jack Rabbit lanciert, ein zweisitziger Rennwagen, der an verschiedenen Wettbewerben teilnahm, ohne sich jedoch endgültig durchsetzen zu können. Die hohen Preise machten Apperson zu einem Wagen für gehobene Ansprüche, der dem grossen Publikum verschlossen blieb. 1914 entstand ein Jack Rabbit mit V8-Motor und 5.502 cm3 Hubraum. Ambitionierte Entwicklungsprojekte führten 1924 zur Gründung einer neuen Gesellschaft, der Apperson Automobil Co.
