Richtung Osten zur US-kanadischen Grenze. Im Laufe der Jahre wurden unzählige weitere Bahnen übernommen, so dass die Maine Central schließlich 1917 ein mehr als 1.350 Meilen langes Streckennetz besaß. Davon waren 1970 immer noch 970 Meilen in Betrieb.
