Die Gesellschaft beschäftigte über 4.000 Arbeiter und besaß rd. 80 Steinbrüche (Basalt-Steinbrüche im Westerwald, in der Pfalz, in der Eifel und in Mitteldeutschland, Grauwackebrüche in den Kreisen Gummersbach und Olpe, Diorit- und Melaphyr-Steinbrüche in der Pfalz, Granit-Steinbrüche in Sachsen). Mehr als ein Dutzend Beteiligungen an anderen Steinbrüchen und Wegebaugesellschaften in Deutschland, Holland und Schweden, außerdem gehörten der Basalt-AG über 90 % der Aktien der Rhein-Sieg Eisenbahn-AG in Beuel. Börsennotiz Berlin und Köln. 1967 Abschluß eines Gewinngemeinschaftsvertrages mit der Strabag Bau-AG sowie Erwerb der Aktienmehrheit der Dolerit-Basalt AG in Köln.
