Sie existierte aber nur bis 1741, bis zu einem Großbrand. Benjamin Franklin organisierte die nächste, erfolgreichere Versicherung, die "Philadelphia Contributionship for the Insurance of Houses from Loss by Fire", besser bekannt nach ihrem Symbol "Hand in Hand". In den 1780er Jahren formierten sich Feuerversicherungen in Philadelphia, New York, Baltimore, Norwich (CT), Charleston, Richmond, Boston, Providence und anderswo. Nun wurden die Versicherungen als Aktiengesellschaften gegründet, da das finanzielle Risiko auf mehrere Anleger verteilt werden konnte. Die erste erfolgreiche Feuer-AG , die "Insurance Company of North America" wurde 1792 in Philadelphia gegründet und verkaufte Seefahrt-, Feuer- und Lebensversicherungen.
