Der Bahnbau ging, auch aus Mangel an ausreichenden finanziellen Mitteln, aber erst einmal nicht voran. 1843 wurden die SCC&RR und die zahlungsunfähig gewordene Louisville, Cincinnati & Charleston RR reorganisiert zur South Carolina RR.
