Francs, Zahlstellen waren Privatbankhäuser in Paris und London). Ausgegeben in einer überaus bewegten Zeit der portugiesischen Geschichte, in der das Beispiel Spaniens mit seinen Umstürzen und Militärrevolutionen Nachahmung fand. Es regierte gerade die Königin Maria auf Basis der Verfassung Dom Pedros vom April 1826. Doch die Opposition bestand auf der älteren Verfassung vom Sept. 1822 (wonach sie auch “Septembristen” genannt wurden). Am 9.9.1836 kamen dann die Septembristen durch einen Staatsstreich an die Macht.
