Der Pflanzer, Jagdführer, Tee-Exporteur, Tierfänger und -händler John Hagenbeck (1866-1940, Halbbruder des Hamburger Zoo-Gründers Carl Hagenbeck) produzierte in den Jahren 1919-1923 vierzehn Spielfilme mit fast ausnahmslos exotischen Sujets (z.B.
