Das erste U-Boot das die Werft baute wurde ursprünglich “Holland VI” genannt, später bekannt als USS Holland (SS-1). 1952 wurde der Firmenname geändert in General Dynamics Corp. Die Ges. ist der Hauptproduzent von U-Booten für die US-Marine seit über 100 Jahren.
