Info:Die Hudson River Bridge Company wurde am 9. April 1856 gegründet. Der Brückenbau begann 1864. Die Brücke war eine direkte Verbindung der New York Central RR auf der westlichen Seite (Albany) und der Hudson River RR, der Troy and Greenbush RR und der Boston and Albany RR auf der östlichen Seite (Rensselaer). Die drehbare Brücke war 4800 Fuß (1500 m) lang, mit einer Höhe von 30 Fuß (9 m) vom höchsten Wasserstand, wenn sie geschlossen war. 1869 fusionierten die New York Central RR mit der Hudson River RR, Keimzelle war die wirtschaftlich ungemein bedeutende 440 Meilen lange Hauptbahn von New York stromaufwärts am Hudson River nach Buffalo. Die Gesellschaft wurde zum Mittelpunkt der Eisenbahninteressen des legendären “Commodore” Cornelius Vanderbilt und kontrollierte um 1900 bereits ein über 3.000 Meilen langes Netz. 1901 wurde die Brücke ersetzt durch die Livingston Avenue Bridge. Sie gehört heute der CSX Transportation und wird von der AMTRAK genutzt.
Specials:Ausgestellt auf William K. Vanderbilt. Vorderseitig original signiert von William Henry Vanderbilt (1821-1885) und rückseitig von William Kissam Vanderbilt (1849-1920).
Availability:Sehr seltener Autograph mit zwei Vanderbilt-Unterschriften.
