Hauptsächlich wurden untergärige Biere hergestellt, daneben auch Malz, Eis und alkoholfreie Getränke (Ganter Nährtrunk). Bis 1934 in Mannheim börsennotiert, 1943 in eine GmbH umgewandelt. 1980 wurde die ebenfalls in Freiburg ansässige Löwenbrauerei vollständig übernommen.
