Die Gesellschaft besaß eine namhafte Beteiligung an der Moon-Anchor Consolidated Gold Mines, 1898 mit englischem Kapital gegründet. Dem Direktorium der beiden Gesellschaften gehörten J.R. McKinnie, O.H. Shoup und Verner Z. Reed an. Shoup und Reed machten bereits davor gemeinsame Geschäfte mit Ölfeldern von Wyoming. Um die Jahrhundertwende kam kaufte sich W.S. Stratton in die Goldmine ein und wurde zum leitenden Direktoren. | | Specials: | Die Moon-Anchor-Aktien wurden an der Börse als Blue-Chip-Investment betrachtet. Im Gegensatz zu den meisten anderen Minengesellschaften betrieb die Ges. eine reelle Dividendenpolitik und ließ ihre Aktionäre an den Erträgen partizipieren. James Renwick McKinnie, ein ehemaliger Soldat der Union im Bürgerkrieg, danach Bisonjäger und "Lebenskünstler", setzte sich auf seine alten Tage mit Frau und sechs Kindern in Colorado Springs nieder. 1892 kaufte er von Bill Fernay für 500$ eine Goldgrube in Battle Mountain, Cripple Creek-Distrikt. 1893 gründete er eine Aktiengesellschaft für den Betrieb dieser Mine. Bis 1894 verdiente er bereits 70.000$ netto. Später verkaufte McKinnie die Mine an die Portland Gold Mining Co., eine der erfolgreichsten Goldminenges. im Cripple Creek-Distrikt. Oliver H. Shoup (1869-1940), machte ein Vermögen mit Ölfeldern in Wyoming, wurde zum Präsidenten der Midwest Oil Co., 1914 Präsident der Midwest Refining Co., danach politisch aktiv als Republikaner, 1918-1920 Gouverneur von Colorado. In dieser Form - mit den beiden bedeutenden Signaturen - eine große Rarität. | | Availability: | Hand signed by J.R. McKinnie as president and O.H. Shoup as secretary. James Renwick McKinnie had fought with the Union Army in the Civil War. Afterwards, he hunted buffalo and mined in the San Juan Mountains of Colorado. In 1890, he loaded his wife and six children into a covered wagon a relocated to Colorado Springs. He hauled supplies to Cripple Creek and staked some claims. Within ten years he was financially involved in twenty-one ming companies and was a millionaire by the age of 53. Oliver H. Shoup (1869-1940) making his fortune by opening a number of Wyoming oil fields. He was first president of the Midwest Oil Co.; and in 1914, he becam the first president of the Midwest Refining Co. Oliver H. Shoup was active for many years as a Colorado Republican party leader and in 1918, he was elected governor of the state. Two folds, otherwise very good condition.
