Bereits 1897 entstand hier das erste Automobil mit eingebautem Zweizylindermotor im Heck. Aber erst ab 1902 kam es zur Serienfertigung, jetzt mit Vierzylinder-V-Motor. 1908 wurde die Automobilproduktion ausgegliedert und die Soc. Nouvelle des Automobiles Martini S.A. in Saint-Blaise gegründet. An der ersten Rallye Monte-Carlo im Jahre 1911 war auch ein Martini unter den Teilnehmern. 1924 übernahmen die Brüder Walter und Robert Steiger, Inhaber einer gleichnamigen Automobilfabrik in Deutschland, die Majorität der Martini-Aktien.
