Von 1290-1362 Reichsstadt mit selbst entwickeltem Stadtrecht (1348 kodifiziert). Die ab 1838 intensive Steinkohlenförderung zog zahlreiche Industriezweige nach Zwickau. Heute Kreisstadt und Stadtkreis im Bezirk Chemnitz, gelegen im Erzgebirgischen Becken mit ca. 125.000 Einwohnern. Specials: Muster der Druckerei Förster & Borries.
