Bereits die Araber nutzten das Panganiland im späteren Deutsch-Ostafrika mit der Hauptstadt Pangani an der Mündung des gleichnamigen Flusses in den Ozean. Bis etwa 35 km landeinwärts ließen sie Zuckerrohrfelder durch ihre Sklaven bebauen. Pangani war auch Ausgangspunkt der Handelskarawanen nach dem Kilimandscharo und weiter. Deutsche Pflanzer bauten dann hauptsächlich Kautschuk und Sisal an. Availability: Nur 4-5 Stücke sind seit langem bekannt. Condition: VF.
