Die Firmenanfänge datieren aber 1856, als Solomon Andrews (1835-1908) eine Bäckerei in Cardiff, Wales, eröffnete. Sein Geschäft florierte und expandierte, was zur Anschaffung eines Fuhrparks führte. 1865 fuhren bereits neun Pferdewagen die Brötchen für ihn aus. 1867 meldete Andrews eine Omnibusfirma an, die 1875 sieben Reisekutschen besaß. Bald weitete er das Geschäft auf die Städte Portsmouth, Hampshire und Plymouth, Devon aus. 1884 fasste er Fuß in London mit einer Omnibusfirma, geführt von seinem Sohn Francis Emile Salomon, danach in Manchester, Leicester, Nottingham und Belfast. | | Specials: | Hochdekorative Gestaltung mit Darstellung von Reisekutschen. Besonders interessant: auf einem der Fahrzeuge prangert groß die Werbung für “Belle of New York”, eine musikalische Komödie, die in dem Londoner Shaftesbury Theatre ab April 1898 insgesamt 697 mal aufgeführt wurde (1952 mit Fred Asteire verfilmt).
