Die böhmische Stadt Joachimsthal im Erzgebirge, 6 km südlich der sächsischen Grenze und 18 km nördlich von Karlsbad, besaß einen berühmten Bergbau auf Silber, Uran, Wismut und Nickel (noch Anfang des 20. Jahrhunderts wurden jährlich 20 t Uranerze gewonnen). Aus dem gewonnenen Silber prägten die Grafen von Schlick seit 1517 Guldengroschen, die unter dem Namen Joachimsthaler zu solchem Ruf gelangten, daß sich daraus die Kurzform Thaler allgemein als Währungsbezeichnung entwickelte (wovon sich phonetisch sogar der Dollar ableitet). | | Condition: | UNC. | | Sold: | 95,00 EUR |
